Second-Round Playoffs Top Performers

A look back at top performances in the second round of the WIAA football playoffs from the Green Bay area.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Wrightstown

The Tigers traveled about 500 miles roundtrip and beat Baldwin-Woodville 23-6 to advance to the D4 state quarterfinals. Quincy Klister and Ben Jaeger combined for 259 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the win.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Tyler Blanchard, Coleman: The junior rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns as the No. 6-seeded Cougars upset No. 2 Manawa for another road playoff win in advancing to the D6 state quarterfinals.

Bay Port's Isaiah Gash

Isaiah Gash, Bay Port: The senior rushed for 315 yards and four touchdowns to power the Pirates to the D1 state quarterfinals.

Mason Karl, Denmark: The senior recorded an area-high 17 tackles, a forced fumble and a sack as the Vikings held top-ranked Kiel to a season-low point total in a D4 loss.

Connor Shefchik, G.B. Preble: The junior made an interception and returned a fumble for a 55-yard touchdown in the first quarter in a loss to Bay Port.

David Vanderlogt, West De Pere: The junior rushed for an area-high 348 yards and five touchdowns to help the Phantoms advance to the D3 state quarterfinals.

OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE WEEK: West De Pere

The Phantoms averaged 9.5 yards per carry in rushing for 513 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-17 victory over Grafton.

Bay Port defense

DEFENSE OF THE WEEK: Bay Port

The Pirates held Green Bay Preble to 77 yards and one offensive touchdown late in the game of their second-round playoff win.
