WIAA Postseason Top Performers
A look back at top performances in the second round of the WIAA playoffs and the 8-player Jamboree for teams from the Green Bay area.
Players of the week
James Daanen, West De Pere: The senior recorded 2.5 TFL and a sack as the Phantoms held Berlin to 12 points in a D3 victory.
Mike Gregoire, G.B. Notre Dame: The senior accounted for both of the Tritons’ touchdowns in a D3 victory at Kewaskum. Gregoire rushed for 105 yards on 28 carries with the pair of touchdowns.
Kendall Karcz, Pulaski: The senior made interceptions for the Red Raiders, including one at the start of the second half that led to Pulaski taking the lead against Green Bay Southwest.
Nathan Steinbrecker, G.B. Southwest: The senior, pictured above, caught a 28-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and came up with an interception on the ensuing possession to help the Trojans prevail in a D2 win over Pulaski.
Jacob Welsing, Sevastopol: The senior threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns in the Pioneers victory over Wausaukee at the 8-player Jamboree on Saturday.
Offensive line of the week: Bay Port
Owen Trast, Eli Trast, Ben Rathburn, Matthew Rotter, Ty Dorvinen and tight end Jack Plumb paved the way for the Pirates to average 6.2 yards per carry in totaling 329 yards on the ground and six rushing touchdowns, including four by Ryan Smith in a 57-51 four-overtime victory over Stevens Point.
