A look back at top performances from Week 1 of the high school football season from the Green Bay area.

Players of the week

Josh Blount, West De Pere: The freshman made quite the debut, rushing for four touchdowns in the first half during a 42-0 shutout victory at Shawano. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder finished with 121 yards on just six carries.

Henry Geil, G.B. Preble: The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder came up with the type of performance you’d expect from a future Big Ten running back, as the University of Iowa recruit rushed for 187 yards on 32 carries and two touchdowns in a 24-16 victory at Ashwaubenon.

Dylan Hendricks, Pulaski: The junior maintained a full workload Thursday with 178 yards on 31 carries with a pair of rushing touchdowns in addition to making 10 tackles in an overtime loss to Green Bay Southwest.

Nick Howard, G.B. Southwest: The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder threw touchdowns to three different receivers, including a 28-yard strike to Noah Schmidt that led to the game-winning extra point in a 21-20 overtime victory at Pulaski. The junior finished with 221 passing yards and added 10 tackles on defense.

Derik LeCaptain, Southern Door: The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder accounted for 423 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in a 46-40 nonconference win over Winneconne. The junior rushed for 278 yards and a pair of scores, while making five receptions for 62 yards and a pair of TDs. He added 83 return yards on kickoffs and also made five tackles with a forced fumble.

Offensive line of the week: Luxemburg-Casco

Gabe Frontuto, Alex Lau, Nathan Yagodinski, Nate Lloyd and Mason Ravet cleared a path for L-C to rush for 277 yards in a 34-14 victory over Denmark. The Spartans averaged 5.7 yards per carry and had three players with at least 89 yards on the ground.
